Just an ounce of charisma, maybe?

I was getting myself a lil’ sumtin’ sumtin’ in the form of chocolate, vanilla and caffeine this fine afternoon. I placed my ordered and fronted the cash to the barista.

My hair looked like this:

Nothing fancy, just stripes of red and blonde - think Calico cat. I added a couple of little braids ‘cuz… well… that’s how I roll.

The barista handed me my change and in a tone that had me wondering if she suffered from the rare - but serious disease - Voice Emodulation (think Will Ferrell). She said,

Here’syourchangeIlikeyourhair.

I looked behind me. Did a spirit just speak to me? I looked back at the barista and questioned, “Ummm… thank you?”

I like that she liked my hair. I like to be liked. I’m not one of those people who needs to be liked for who I am. I’m shallow like that - kiddie pool shallow. *splish splash* But, it is also handy when a compliment is clearly a compliment. I want to be able to confidently reply, “Why, thank you! I like my hair too! I’d love to hear you say that again sometime!”

Then again, beggars can’t be choosers, and I’m TOTALLY not above wearing a shirt that reads, “Don’t tell me I’m smart… just tell me I’m pretty.”

I think you’re smart and pretty and that sounds like your next Zazzle shirt. And I love your hair. I’m thinking blue to cover my gray!

    Hair - totally cute…

But I’m imagining a girl with a Will Ferrell voice.

    Not pretty.

    A bit scary actually.
