Have you ever loved something so much — so much that you ache in its absence? It haunts your dreams. It is your first thought in the morning… your last thought at night. You long to be close… even a moment of separation… perish the thought. You slowly lick your lips. You draw the succulent cup of warmth nearer, and nearer still…

I have a BIG post planned for later today… coverage of the big birthday bash, but I have a few things I need to get out of my brain. I should probably save this for tomorrow, but it looks like I’ve decided against that!
Speaking of deciding… I splurged today and bought an eggnog latte. In my defense it is “Two for Tuesday”, so I actually bought my husband a coffee and mine was free! See how frugal I am! While waiting for my hot cuppa goodness, I was faced with a decision:

I wish we could vote with gumballs on election day. I think everyone would feel a bit brighter…

In other news - if you were to visit 5×5 Project today you might get a little frightened! I took on the “Boo” theme and submitted my picture to Krysta… I have titled the picture, “Boo” says the Harvest Moon from behind the evergreens. Thank you, Krysta for providing another opportunity for me stretch and reach!

You guessed it! It’s Make Me Laugh Monday! I had the pleasure of laughing this weekend, and two of the instances were caught on film. The first picture is of my 3 year old daughter, Cole… eating a hot dog, but not the bun. Low-carbers, this may be your poster-child:

Next up - Lisa (The Blozulfog) and me. Lisa and I are always putting our nonsense together and changing the world in fabulous ways. Remember that one day you had that was so fabulous? It was us. I don’t know exactly how, but we were behind the fabulouness of your day. Yup.
For quite some time we have peed our britches giggled over the fact that we have appointed ourselves the President (Me) and Vice-Prez (her) of The Dance Party. However, People - last week we made it official. We created a group on Facebook, appropriately named — The Dance Party. We are looking to take over the world… In our world all disputes are resolved in a dance-off, and our platform? Uh… SHOES! Duh! The following picture was taken on Saturday. We went to the local casino to do some very serious campaigning… The Spazmatics (one of our faves!) provided the groove, and because we are committed to serving Our People we took this picture with two of the band members. People of The Dance Party… know we are always representin’. We are working hard on the campaign trail… for you!

I know, all my girlfriends saw that title and were all, “Uh! Mah! Gah! I can’t WAIT to read about casual gaming!!!” You said that, right? Right?
*crickets chirping*
And what is “casual gaming”? It is an experience with a game sans “major ordeal”. You can turn it on without having to commit an hour or all night. There is pleasure and little anxiety… not too complex… just a “Hey, I’m gonna go unwind for a little bit…” kind-of experience. At least, that was my understanding… Like solitaire and sudoku… though there are losts of casual games that require a bit more thumb dexterity or finger tapping speed than those 2 games. In either case - just “casual”, as opposed to the type where you see people descend into a dark basement and morph into a dark persona…
Anyway. Now I feel like I can add another tally-mark on the post-it of tally-marks I keep to track my growing geek-ness. Adding to my technical geek-ness makes me feel cool! “Cool” is so cool. Plus, the other tally-mark post-it poster boards I have keep track of how many times I’ve had wipe up pee accidents over the last 9 years. Not my own accidents, but of my little “potty trainers” over the years. Yeah, that one does not evoke similar feelings of coolness.

I know, I keep getting off-track. Continue reading ‘I went to GameHouse and learned a new term, “casual gaming”.’
I could write all about my wonderful children, but I am afraid the content would largely consist of the word “poop”, plus my 6 year old asked me not to blog about her issues that resulted in an x-ray and daily Miralax “cocktails”.
While waiting for her x-ray she asked, “What are you going to blog about today?”
Me, “Oh… probably something about the very important vice-presidential debate that is happening tonight.”
She, “Oh…”.
I pressed… “Why? Do you want me to write about this?”
Olivia, “No.”
Me, “Were you worried I’d write about this?”
Olivia nodded and looked relieved.
So… I won’t blog about THAT.

Today I will write about what I did Wednesday night! Plus, it was way more fun than poop. It’s true. My friend Lisa and I went to a concert. I saw 3 bands I’d never heard of. The genre: folk/rock-folk/country/blues/bluegrass/afrobeat. Yeah, righ tin line with my retro-pop-80’s obsession…
Here’s what went down: Continue reading ‘I’m sorry, another post about the life and times of Me.’
Oooh. That sounds so, so… 90210 (with Brenda and Kelly and Brandon and Dillon, not that new-fangled show - I am ALL about “old school”)… but back to soccer. I am writing about a new way of life for me, for my family. I am laying it all out, like a well-prepared student does with his/her clothing the night before school.
It all stated back in 197? when my dad made me play soccer because he was the coach. My poor dad. He never had a chance.

I mean - look at me (I’m the princess on the left - the princess on the right is Jen from Preteens, Toddlers, Newborns, Oh My!). How on earth does such an adorable little girl EVER play soccer??? Huh??? Hello!!! She TWIRLS! She PICKS DANDELIONS! Princesses do not “play” soccer. At least, not in the way The Soccer People intended. Continue reading ‘Confessions of a new soccer mom.’
Because I just got 2 mood rings - some swag from PBS at BlogHer ‘08 - and they are NEVER the same color.
Just wondering…
